Sundays In My City

Oklahoma, where the wind comes sweepin' down the plain

And the wavin' wheat can sure smell sweet

When the wind comes right behind the rain.

Oklahoma, Ev'ry night my honey lamb and I

Sit alone and talk and watch a hawk
Makin' lazy circles in the sky.

We know we belong to the land
And the land we belong to is grand!

And when we say
Yeeow! Ayipioeeay!

We're only sayin'
You're doin' fine, Oklahoma!
Oklahoma O.K.

Oh Marla, what a wonderful, fun post. I couldn't help but smile the whole time. I do have one question however, in the first photo isn't that "wind" going to do a little more than gently sweep?

Mami ~ Thanks! Glad I could make you smile.

Jeanine ~ Welcome!

Coby ~ How funny!

Ok Book Woman ~ Yes, we are!

Judy ~ That "wind" took our house sweeping down the plain May 3,1999, but that's another story.

KJ ~ It is a great song, right?

honeypiehorse ~ The first few and the last one are of Oklahoma but I did not take them. The rest are all mine. The one of the farm is our farm where the tornado hit.

Sonya, Rae & brainella ~ Thanks! Aren't Sunday posts fun because of Mami?

Love your photos, the song and the musical too. Have you ever seen the outdoor production of "Oklahoma" near Tulsa? It's wonderful!

Very beautiful where you live!!! I love belonging to the land... It certainly rules our life here... And for the moment, it is keeping me inside, where it is cozy and warm. I enjoyed your photos, it reminds me that spring will come again, one day!

YOu know I totally love that song! When my older sister & I used to try to fight as kids..I would often sing it at the top of my lungs because she hated it when I sing... I'll have to do it to her real soon...that would be fun :) Thanks for the reminder Marla!

i was looking at some of your older posts and i saw this one again. i am thinking that you may be interested in the toni morrison novel paradise (which takes place mostly in oklahoma incidentally) and is about two very different types of utopias in the same town. it is one of my very favorite books.
