This May Explain Why I Am So Fowl

I know, I know, I have not posted in a few days. And I have not put Harley to work on picking a winner for the giveaway that should have ended a week ago. And I haven't shaved my legs, plucked my eyebrows or told the whole truth this last week either. So here goes.

I am scheduled to be back at Mercy Hospital tomorrow morning at 7:00 am. I had to swallow ten pills tonight in preparation and ten more tomorrow morning. Then once at the hospital they will start yet another IV in order to administer the Iodine drip that I had a reaction to last time. My hand still hurts from the last IV. I still remember feeling freaky from the last Iodine reaction. I am not happy right now.

Then there is my sister Kelly. My baby sister has been through literal hell over the years. She has had five or was it six brain surgeries, a complete hip replacement due to cancer eating her bone away, a massively intrusive back surgery. Need I go on? The girl is a freak of nature with all the titanium in her body. So why do I bring this up?

Because I have watched and supported my sister go through things no living person on this planet should have to endure and for the most part she has held her head high. Well, other than when it was in the toilet as she barfed her brains out from chemo. Now I need to go have some tests done involving a needle and machines and whatever and what do I do? I internally whine and shake in complete fear.

Kelly, you are my hero.

Please send drugs quick. I am a chicken.

Ah GEE...how come you have to take the thing you are allergic to. No good!

You and your sister are cut from a special cloth. I'm a BIG baby and SKEERD out o' my wits in the horse-pital.

Yes, but you are one TOUGH chicken! I mean, dry, stick to the roof of your mouth, need to pour gravy all over it tough! Survived tornadoes, chased folks off with a shot-gun, running a Mexican jail tough.

Praying for the peace of God that surpasses all understanding, sweet friend.

Love you!

Oh the hand looked awful. I don't blame you for chickening out. Kelly had a lot of practices (poor thing) but you haven't. Wishing you a speedy recovery from whatever is bugging you.

I've had 21 operations (including 2 back and 3 brain) and you know what's the worst part? The damn IV!!! I hate it, so I can totally sympathize!

But you do what you have to do.

Good luck, hon!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I've only read about your incredible Sister and so it is perfectly okay for me to demand tea and toast and four days off work when I have a slight sniffle.

I don't do needles - why should you?

Thanks for all the comments by the way - you mad pain fearing fool!

Oh dang, Marla, I don't blame you at all for shaky nerves. I am wrapping my arms around you like so many other people are. We can't be there in person but we sure can be with you in spirit. Hugs. Hugs. Hugs.

It's no wonder that everyone there deals with strife so well. The love, support and faith that permeates your family is overflowing. God bless all of you. Chin up.

Those IV's can hurt. When I went through chemo they inserts a port in my chest so they didn't have to find a vein every other week. I was glad for that.

Good luck and good health.

If any of the doctors question your hairy legs or hair arm pits, just tell them you are going for the "bohemian" look.

Hang in there!

I'll excuse your hairy legs, THIS time.

I hate IVs too. I'm thinking about you. Take deep breaths, and think about me,that should give you lots of comfort...

i'm afraid of needles, too.

just how do you know if you're having an "obstruction" or just a bad case of gas/constipation? lol

I'm so sorry that you're going through a lot right now. But I have to say that you have the cutest way of sharing. :)

You've got this, I know you've got this and you are allowed to be a mess.

Cut yourself some slack. It's ok for you to be freaked out. I hope it went ok and you were worried without reason. :)

Duckie ~ I went with the no dignity. Worked like a charm!

Teresa ~ Oh, you'd know the difference, believe you me.

Nicole ~ Did you just call me a slacker? :-)

Your sister, of all people, wouldn't like it if you felt you couldn't feel scared or apprehensive.

Go ahead girl, scream as loud as you want. We can take it!

Hopefully everything went well for you!

dadgumit! I wish I would have seen this BEFORE you went in so I could have been praying for you.

I will be praying you recover quickly and you get good results from your tests.

Do you want me to come over and shave your legs for you? I'd do it to make you happy, I would pluck your brows, and when you are sitting in your bed at the hospital you could ace those tests so much better while thinking ANYTHING is better than nicks all over my legs and crooked brows....
