I am flying home to Oklahoma tomorrow morning. I hate flying. No wait, I HATE flying. There, that is much more accurate. I love traveling and really want to see the world. I have some of the best friends ever in Holland and my family lives in Switzerland and Spain. I really, really, really want to go to Europe to see everyone except for one thing. I HATE flying! If I stress over a little flight like Florida to Oklahoma, then how am I ever going to get to Europe? How did I get off on this subject anyway?
So, I am going to be home early tomorrow evening. Home, where my best friend in the whole world will be waiting for me, along with all my silly critters that love me because I love them. Well, that and because I stuff my barn jacket pockets full of carrots and treats. I am so happy to think of seeing my girls and other grandbabies who live nearby in Oklahoma. I love home.
I have had the best time with Amy and the kids. I am getting a bit verklemped just thinking about leaving them tomorrow. Have I made it clear how very blessed I am to have such a fine daughter-in-law? Well, I am. I love this girl so much my heart aches thinking of not being with her. I am so proud of the fine little family she and my son have created together. Life is good ... but I HATE flying!
I might need a valium. Talk amongst yourselves ...

I actually like to fly it's the airport crowds I could do without. Enjoy your trip and spending time with the family over the holidays.
Hungary needs to be added to that list!! If my mom could do it, all by herself, you can do it! Come on over. It is awesome here! And you can see how God is working in places all over the world.
Wow .. I hate flying too...valiums are good, very good and vodka..Have a safe trip...!!
Am I weird? I find flying exciting

As hard as your air travel seems, it will be worth it once you get home and see your family. Have a nice visit and enjoy your holiday time.
I can't tell you how blessed you are to have such a lovely daughter-in-law. I wish I could help you with the flying thing. I HATE heights but for some crazy reason flying doesn't bother me in the least. Go figure! Have a safe trip home.
I haven't flowing in the longest time. Hey..be sure to take some airborne when you first get the chance. There are a lot of germs in confined spaces...another reason to hate flying. ;)
Airplanes are not my favorite mode of transportation... I know you want to hear this- our last trip was from FL back to OK in October and the last leg was delayed for several hours and THEN the flight was bumpy...Claire said as soon as we landed when they announced we look forward to you flying with us agin "not a chance" ah, kids can make it all better so glad Miranda is with you...And I prefer Zanac- oh yeah baby!
I hate flying too, it's so tiring. So I usually take an aeroplane.
Lots of reading material and head phones works. I suppose for you, though, it's the getting ON the plane that can be harrowing. Visualize the end result - being home - maybe that will help.
I hope your flight goes well! There really is no place like home!
Ativan, not Valium.
Focus on your breath. Have a fun trip.
I bet I hate it more than you. I have complete panic about it. Complete.
And skip the Valium, Xanax works much better. And faster. I couple it with a Bloody Mary and it's smooth sailing!
Safe travels.
Judy ~ I had a last minute 5 hour layover in Atlanta. It was the best part of the trip. People watching in airports is a trip in itself.
Leah ~ Amy & I actually talked about you and your ministry in Hungary last week. We are ready to go!!
Robin ~ Vodka! Yeah, that's the ticket!
Kate ~ No, you are normal ... other than the office shenanigans. :-)
Rae ~ You are so right.
Oklahoma Granny ~ I truly am.
Parsley ~ Thank for the reminder! I took two doses thanks to you.
Mindy ~ I love Claire. She is YOU!
UG ~ Always the funny man!
Monkey Man ~ That's where I get into trouble ... visualizing and I won't say what.
Libbie ~ Thanks!
Mami ~ Good advice. I spent the second leg of the trip focusing on the breathing of the fat man practically sitting on me ... and no it wasn't Santa.
Nicole ~ I say we take a trip together. I have lots of Xanax leftover from my dad.
I have not flown in over twenty years. I can really do without it now with all the hassles. No thank you! Thank you for posting and sharing on my blog....I am sorry for your loss.
Marla I don't like flying either, since I fly with my kids. I decided to put into action a simple strategy which is to GET RID OF THE THOUGHT that I am flying. I just empty my mind and I tell you it works! Till the turbulence over the Equator while we fly across Africa. But now I have learnt that that turbulence is normal because of the weather...
I want to make a remark to this blog: You said you have 'the best friends ever in Holland' but I want to tell you that is wrong... :) It suppose to be 'I have the sweetest, most gorgious FAMILY in Holland'. That's it!
Love and miss you Marla!
PS you know that you have to fly over in a very very very short periode of time!! Buy the valium allready! Or even better: I will send it to you! Hhaha..
hee heeeee! Your poor thing.
And you are so very lucky to like - no, LOVE - your daughter-in-law. How often does a mother think a woman is good enough for her son, let alone really really like her?
Oh, and one more thing. THANK YOU so much for slapping my badge on your blog. I really appreciate it! MWAH!!!
JBR ~ Thank you for writing such a great blog.
Lorenza ~ So I just need to have an empty mind? I think I accomplished that long ago. :-)
Amarja ~ I have the sweetest, most gorgeous FAMILY in Holland!! Love you, little Dutch daughter of ours!
Nanny Goats In Panties ~ Nothing better than a Nanny Goat kiss. :-)
