While visiting MattysThoughts, I discovered, Enchanted Oak. The author of this inspiring blog is hosting a challenge this weekend. It’s called The Simple Things Challenge and yes, it is really simple. Celebrate the simple pleasures in your life by posting a list, a poem, or a prose piece about the joy of simple things, and the author will donate $2.00 to Heartline Ministries for their medical clinic and other programs in Haiti.
So, without further ado …. My simple list.
~ Riding a horse almost as old and slow as I am
~ Being served coffee in bed … every day … by the same man … my personal cabana boy … named Bob
~ Having a two year old wrap her nasty, grubby arms around my neck and give me a big sloppy kiss with a nose full of boogers
~ Watching the sunrise
~ Watching the sunset
~ Breathing clean air
~ Drinking clean water
~ Eating food from my garden
~ Laughing
~ Crying

Thank you for the link. I too have sad thoughts about Haiti. It is a helpless feeling wanting to do something but being unable.
Thank you also for your kind comments on my blog post.
love those simple things...thanks for playing along...we are so blessed...
This was wonderful. Thank you so much for sharing your heart and this link.
Marla! I love your post! You cracked me up, and you made me smile. This has been a real joy today, meeting people like you. I love "Fried Green Tomatoes" too, and writing, and watching sunrises, and I wish I had a personal cabana boy but I do have a great hubby who makes my coffee ready every morning, so hey, I have not a single complaint. You have blessed life, dear one. Thank you for visiting me on behalf of Haiti.
Lovely simple things.
I love the laughing and crying part.
Thanks for joining us.
hugs

You have your own personal cabana boy??? Lucky you!!! What a guy that Bob is for bring you coffee in bed everyday! That is too sweet. Bummer about your internet, but isn't that something to be thankful for? I guess I never really thought about it because it's always here. I will appreciate it from now on! Glad you have yours back! And I did love all the things on your list. Have a great weekend with your cabana boy!!! Tell him how wonderful we think he is!
Kate
love the list....gentle...simple...the best.
Counting simple blessings. Yes.
Dear Marla, How great to read this! I do the excact same thing! I keep on thanking God for having a roof over my head, a bed to sleep in, for enough money in the bank to buy food and for family that is still alive and not sick, that I have a bike to bike to my work.. These kind off things.
In the Netherlands we started to raise money for Haiti together. Children start washing cars on the streets for some euros, mothers start baking cades and sold it in their neighbourhoods, people donated money..
Our minister said that at the eind of the week he would double the amount all of the Dutch will raise together. The endsom was 83,4 milion euros. Pretty amazing right?!
Love you Marla, miss you lots!
I get coffee in bed every day too and it is one of the most wonderful things ever.
Those simple things sound wonderful! My oldest mare isn't quite as old as I am, but she's just as slow unless she gets the urge!
Ah, yes, the boogers of 2-year-olds are divine!
