The List

It's time to update what's happened or is happening with The List. Ready? Yeah, me neither but let's do it anyway. Here's what we've done so far:

1. Fast for the 2 billion people who live on less than a dollar a day.

2. Contact your local crisis pregnancy center and invite a pregnant woman to live with your family.

3. Ask your pastor if someone on your church’s sick list would like a visit.

4. Join an open AA meeting and befriend someone there.

If you recall, I am still in the middle, or is it the beginning, of number four. This one brought me into the City Rescue Mission as a volunteer. It has also brought me face to face with a woman named Nikki. I believe with all my heart that the story from number four is still being written and will be worth reading. Someday. Just not today. Today is still about filling out papers, taking classes and building trust. Today is all the boring details of life that usually lead to something amazingly unexpected. I am ready to be unexpectedly amazed. So, while number four is still being written in my life, lets go onto number five, if you don't mind.

5. Adopt a child.

Keep your arms and legs in at all times and your seatbelt fastened. This ride is about to begin .......

Wait...What, what, what? (where is the dang BOLD and FONT SIZE button when I need to express my LOUDNESS?)
REALLY??????????????????????????
I am so excited that I am constantly deleting what I just typed because I am all over the place on this blasted keyboard. And of course, I have some experience in this area...but you know that. Oh, friend I am hopping on for the ride. Wheeeeeeeee!

Oh my world Marla, yes, I am strapped in tight! (you have to be to keep up with you!!! What does cabana boy put in that coffee he brings you? I need some to be able to keep up with you!) My head is spinning from all your adventures. What an exciting time this is going to be for your family, I wish you the best of luck with the adoption process, and that it goes as smoothly as possible. Wow! Can't say any more right now, you shocked me, and that is really hard to do! So totally cool...

We've often thought about those older kids that are waiting for a home. It's still a possibility. A scary possibility!

I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for your next chapter!

Being new here, I simply had to go back and start at the beginning. Now I know why I was drawn to your blog, I absolutely love the way you "put it out there!" While I'm not quite THAT brave, I am very sarcastic. I can't help myself, sorry, it's a protective measure as well as a character flaw. I also cared for my parents before they passed. It was quite humbling. I wouldn't trade the experience for anything, and it hurts being an orphan. Do you think it's possible we could be related somehow?

Honestly? I didnt expect anything less from you. This is just so beyond wonderful and there are soooo many children in the U.S. who need homes and people to love them. Im strapped in tight aswell..Im not goin anywhere!

You are moving right along. I often think it would be wonderful to foster a child. I know adoption is out of the question, but I think fostering could offer a lot too.

Adoption is certainly rewarding. Our son and his wife fostered and adopted 2 brothers. They are in the midst of the adoption process for a sister and brother as I type this.
