Do you remember when our mothers put us on...Patty,

Do you remember when our mothers put us on the Greyhound to Cayucos one summer? What fun we had however were they crazy? What a different world we live in today, that's for sure. Purple mascara and blue eyeshadow. It shouldn't be too many more years and we will be rocking that look once again only this time with silver hair. Oh, our poor kids!

How I loved Grandma Davi. Always ironing in your mother's kitchen when we got home from school. And those cookies! I still have the afghan she crocheted for me as a bridal shower gift. I wrapped myself in it and had a good cry after Kelly died, remembering how easy life was when we were kids and how difficult life can seem as we get older. The things our parents must have gone through that we never truly noticed because we were just busy being kids. Now that was a gift, them allowing us to just be kids. You are so right, my friend. We were lucky to be around them. I believe they all would be proud of both of us, living out what they placed in us.

I was thinking about Kelly today, as I do everyday. I was missing her and asking God how I was going to go on without my little sister. Without the one who shared all my childhood memories. I love Char desperately however with our 12 year age difference, we definitely did not share the same childhood. It was right after that, I saw your comment and a thought popped into my head. Patty was there. She was there. I am not alone and all these memories do still count because someone else remembers with me. It was comforting knowing that piece of my life is not completely lost, if that makes any sense at all. Thank you for remembering with me.

Hope this next year will be the one we see each other again. Love you, always.
Marlahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18000815937078399278noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9098515874635881752.post-72006608416667463672013-09-17T09:38:51.684-07:002013-09-17T09:38:51.684-07:00..I forgot about the monkey! We did have fun those.....I forgot about the monkey! We did have fun those summers I went with you to Cayucos. Riding the horses bareback to wash them. Picking the garbanzo beans and hunting down the eggs. Two city girls from "L.A." With our purple mascara and blue eyeshadow. I know the hands I always worshiped were my Grandma Davi's. those hardworking hands, with wrinkles and sun spots. Bless those women who taught us how to be moms and Grandmas. We were lucky to be around them and never knew the gifts they were quietly giving us. Stay well my friend. You have done all those women proud.
Pat De Collibusnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9098515874635881752.post-73715295504305990742013-09-15T20:23:27.761-07:002013-09-15T20:23:27.761-07:00This sounds like my grandmother!
For several ye...This sounds like my grandmother!

For several years I had been saying to my neighbor, "I wish I could live in a place where no one cares what my house looks like, and no one cares how I dress." I have always thought that place would be a farm. Today I live in China where no one really cares about my house or clothes, but this isn't quite what I imagined. lol :)Delirioushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01564398770468606675noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9098515874635881752.post-78270266863632438872013-09-15T11:09:05.292-07:002013-09-15T11:09:05.292-07:00"thirty-five years of fear, worry and doubt&q..."thirty-five years of fear, worry and doubt"

Oh Marla!
